Heart is not only one of the most vital organ of body, but till ages it symbolizes love, care n compassion. Whether a person is happy or sad, excited or depressed, the heart will be affected the most.

Thus, maintaining a good heart health is very important not only for a longer life, but for enjoying a healthy n hearty life.

This observance also inform people about cardiovascular diseases, which are the biggest cause of death. The day promotes preventative measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The theme for this year is ” Power Your Life” which focuses on healthy lifestyle measures which need to be incorporated in everyday life in order to prevent the risk of CVD ( cardio-vascular diseases).

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death worldwide and this is projected to remain so, according to WHO. About 17.5 million people died from cardiovascular disease in 2005, representing 30 percent of all global deaths.

Some of the factors which leads to the risk of cardiac disorders n stroke include:

Heart related disorders are not only confined to adults, but it can affect any age group. Children are also vulnerable too. About 1.35 million babies are born with congenital heart disease every year. Moreover, children may have to face the emotional consequences of seeing a loved one becoming ill with CVD.

The unhealthy lifestyles that lead to cardiovascular disease often begin in childhood and adolescence, so that prevention of heart disease must begin there. A healthy heart starts from childhood, the best time to adopt heart-healthy behaviors and reduce risks.

The risk factors can be eliminated/ prevented by adapting certain lifestyle modification techniques n switching on to a better n healthier lifestyle.

a. Get, Set n Go…

Get physically active, keep yourself moving. Do exercises n work-outs: be it jogging, walking, cycling, swimming, or even gardening.
