Glaucoma can affect anyone
Glaucoma (कांचबिंद) एक प्रकार का नेत्र रोग है जिसमे अफ्फेक्टेड व्यक्ति की आँखों की रौशनी धीरे धीरे ख़त्म होती चली जाती है.
It is a group of eye diseases, caused due to optic nerve damage and can affect one eye or both.
People with high intraocular presssure are at greater risk of getting it, (intraocular pressure i.e. fluid pressure inside the eyes rises slowly , thereby damaging the optic nerve, and resulting in loss of vision). Acc. to an estimate around 4.5 million people worldwide are having glaucoma, which is expected to increase to 76.0 million in 2020, वहीँ हमारे भारत में glaucoma is the third leading cause of blindness.
छोटे बच्चों में कुछ मुख्य लक्षण इस प्रकार हैं:
child’s eyes particularly sensitive to sunlight or a camera flash सूरज की किरणों अथवा तेज चमकीली फ्लैश/कैमरा लाइट के प्रति अतिसंवेदनशीलता
child’s eyes have difficulty adjusting in the dark अँधेरे/कम रौशनी वाली जगहों पर ज्यादा दिक्कत होना
Glaucoma can affect children too!!
child complain of headaches and/or eye pain सिरदर्द/ आँखों में दर्द
child blink or/and squeeze his/her eyes often बार-बार आंखें मसलना
child have red eyes all the time आँखें लाल होना/ पानी आना
ग्लूकोमा के अनेक प्रकार होते हैं पर मुख्यतः इसे समझने के लिए दो वर्गों में विभाजित किया गया है –
Dimnished Vision in Glaucoma
प्राइमरी – जिसका कोई स्पष्ठ कारण नही है
सेकेंडरी – जो किसी अन्य प्रकार के विसुअल डिसऑर्डर के कॉम्प्लीकेशन्स की वजह से हो. बच्चों से लेकर उम्रदराज व्यक्तियों तक किसी को भी कांचबिंद हो सकता है.
Glaucoma doesn’t have specific signs n symptoms, hence it’s sometimes difficult for the affected person to realizt that he is having problem in vision, resulting in causing blindness.
Therefore early diagnosis plays an integral role in reducing the percentage of blindness.
Open-angle Glaucoma shows no symptoms other than slow vision loss while
Angle-closure Glaucoma is a medical emergency in which a perso complains of eye pain n visual disturbances.
Several tests like Visual Acuity Test, Visual Field Test, Dilated Eye Examination, Tonometry are performed to confirm the diagnosis.
अभी तक इसका कोई निश्चित इलाज नही है, पर कुछ विशेष तरह की दवाइयों, eye drops एवं सर्जरी, Laser Trabeculoplasty द्वारा glaucoma के प्रोग्रेशन को स्लो किया जा सकता है.
